blog-workflow-obsidian

Okay, this whole thing is going to be a bit self-referential, so I'll try to make it as easy as possible.

Why did I make this site using obsidian? For one, I have gotten used to certain easy shortcuts for stylizing text quickly. Ya know, the italics, the bolds the code bits, other things that make life easy, including:

  • Bullet Lists
    • Inside Bullet Lists
  1. Numbered lists
  2. Easy external links!
  3. The list goes
  4. On and on

And see I am typing it out just like this and using a few handy keyboard shortcuts. Nothing really fancy here. Let me show you a screen shot so you know what I'm seeing right as type(d) this...

I thought we'd get a bit self-referential

To make this whole note an actual website, I do nothing more than click an export button, double click a. bat file and ~boom~ I am online. Mostly thanks to a open-source community plugin made by Nathan George.

But I've spent a bit of time trying to make my website more than just a bunch of static notes (though, for what it's worth, you can check out this whole static site here). I want to make sure my content fits somewhere within my site. That's why obsidian is absurdly easy. I can insert links to another note is easy as highlight some text, and tapping the square bracket [ twice. Then voila - we are wherever we need to be.

You can even use HTML right inside and preview it instantly.

So to find this post, all I should have to do is link it somewhere. I thought this could be a post of the day, but it feels too focused now, and I am thinking I will just link it in today's blog post. I would edit today's but it's officially past midnight and I ought to keep myself honest. So I'll make a new post to the weblog.

'Till next time'
